The Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) was established by a legislative act (Cap. 254) in 1993. As a statutory corporation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management (MAFFW), we inform, facilitate and develop Barbadian crop and livestock production, food innovation, processing and marketing opportunities for local agripreneurs and food enterprises. Through our work we create economic opportunity and help assure food and nutrition security for all Barbadians.
Our Agricultural Services Division provides Government subsidised land lease, motor tractor cultivation and webbased agricultural data collection and extension advisory services, as well as access to affordable seeds, agrochemicals and equipment to farmers in 15 districts across Barbados. Serving some 700 crop farmers in the field, BADMCs Agricultural Extension team advises crop farmers on applying and adapting agricultural research, best practices and techniques to optimize crop performance and revenue potential, from land preparation to post-harvest.
Extension Officers also collaborate closely with farmers to monitor national crop farming activity, recording critical crop planting, performance, loss and yield data in the AGRICAST system for market forecasting purposes.
