The company was originally incorporated in May 1984 as the Caribbean Commercial Trust Company. The company's name was subsequently changed in 1998 to Clico Mortgage & Finance Corporation (CMFC).
CMFC was subsequently acquired by the Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited in August 2010 following the collapse of C.L. Financial group. The company was rebranded Capita Financial Services Inc. in September 2010.
Capita Financial operates under a license issued by the Central Bank of Barbados in conformity with the provisions of the Financial Institutions Act.
Capita Financial is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited, which is Barbados' largest Credit Union with assets in excess of $670 million (BDS).
