Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) TIDE was established in 1999. We are a conservation NGO in Toledo District committed to preserving local areas and communities. The organisation manages four protected areas in Toledo District: two marine and two terrestrials.
Our primary objectives include providing an alternative and sustainable livelihood for area residents, introducing more profitable economic opportunities, and generating funding for TIDE's conservation work.
TIDE activities are streamlined into four integrated programme areas: natural resource management, research and monitoring, education and outreach, and community development. Our subsidiary, TIDE Tours, promotes ecotourism in the Toledo District. We offer training to residents to enable their participation in the ecotourism industry.
