Mona Geoinformatics institute (MGI) is wholly owned by the University of the West Indies (Mona), and serves dual role as UWI research entity and commercial business specialising in geospatial information technologies, products and services. We are the premier Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) entity in Jamaica.
We provide Location Based Solutions, Advance Geospatial Mapping, Modelling, 3D models and visualization services, GIS training, analytical and software development, Website development as well as App development. Our premier service, Human and Social Mapping contributes directly to national development and provides service and support in Crime Management, Social Development programmes, Socio-economic analysis, Electoral mapping, Road Safety and Traffic analysis, Educational service coverage, Health services and Business distribution modelling.
We have developed and released in Jamaica, the Caribbean's first fully functional GPS navigation map JAMNAV. JAMNAV is the most accurate navigation system, providing street-by-street, turn-by-turn navigation, and points of interest throughout the island.
MGI generates its revenues primarily through direct provision of GIS related services to Jamaica's private sector, government ministries and agencies and various NGO's as well as direct tender submissions on multilateral agency funded projects either as primary or secondary contractor.
