ARC was incorporated in Jamaica in 1996 as a Limited Liability Company, a small manufacturer of zinc sheeting with a staff complement of five (5). In 1997, ARC acquired Jamaica Steel Reinforcement Company and augmented its manufacturing facilities to include nails, fabric construction, mesh, quarter wire and drawn w ire.
ARC remains the leading manufacturer of nails and the sole manufacturer of binding wire in Jamaica and has effectively competed in this market segment against foreign imports.
ARC further expanded its manufacturing programme in 2010 with the incorporation of ARC Manufacturing Limited as it further supports its vision:
To strive for a strong correlation between economic prosperity and improved social conditions for a contemporary Jamaican Society.
Today the company employs over 200 individuals, a skilled workforce, with over fifty (50) years of experience in the construction, building materials and distributive trade, the majority of whom are residents of the surrounding communities within which we operate.
ARC has not only expanded its staff complement but also its product range and facilities.
The company began the importation of lumber and wood products in 1996 to form ply and one inch lumber. ARC now carries a wide assortment of lumbe r and other building materials to the Jamaican market.
The company's main office, manufacturing and distribution facilities now occupy approximately 18 acres of land situated at 14 Bell Road in the heart of the industrial belt of Kingston. The property spans Bell Road in the West to Development Road in the East and features the following:
