The National Land Agency (NLA) is an Executive Agency that falls under the Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change.

The NLA was established in April 200 1 as a result of the Public Sector Modernisation Programme of the Government of Jamaica. It brings together the core land information functions of Government under one roof, and includes: Land Titles, Surveys & Mapping, Land Valuation and Estate (Crown Land) Management. This merger enables the Government to build on the synergy of these combined functions and create a modern national land (spatial) information system to support sustainable development.

Factories Corporation of Jamaica Ltd. was incorporated in 1987 to implement the Government’s Emergency Factory Building Programme. Under this programme approximately 92,903 sq. m. (1 million sq. ft.) of Factory space was built. With the phasing out of the Jamaica Industrial Development Corporation (JIDC) in 1989 it was decided that FCJ’s role should be expanded to include the management of the properties that were under the JIDC’s control.

When the company commenced operation in 1988, approximately 75% of its tenants were engaged in the Garment Industry. Following the downturn in garment manufacturing towards the end of the 1990’s, a significant number of tenants began pursuing other manufacturing and commercial activities.

With the prospects that the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Industry now holds, the organization embarked on an expansion of space in recent years, to serve the growing area of information technology. FCJ owns approximately 174,953 sq. m. (1,879, 917.37 sq. ft). of rentable space of which 13,199 sq. m. (142,021 sq. ft.) is earmarked for use in the ICT Industry, however the expansion of additional space for use in this industry is under way.

Locations

FCJ has forty-six industrial sites at various strategic locations in eleven (11) parishes throughout the island. The main locations are in Kingston, St. James, St. Catherine and St. Thomas.

Biomedical Caledonia Medical Laboratory Limited is a private medical laboratory with a network of forty-one (41) collection centres island wide and has been providing comprehe nsive laboratory services since 1968.

The laboratory participates in external proficiency testing with the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC), the Medical Laboratory Evaluation (MLE) programme provided by the American College of Physicians, Randox International Quality Assessment Scheme (RIQAS) and the Digital Proficiency Testing programme.

The laboratory was one of the selected Testing Laboratories to participate in the pilot Accreditation Programme that was orchestrated by the Government of Jamaica, Swedish Accreditation Body (SWEDAC), and the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre. Our laboratory participated in a mock accreditation exercise in 2006, where we demonstrated our technical competence in providing quality and efficient services based on the International Standard ISO15189 requirements.
On May 28, 2013, the Laboratory was awarded Accreditation Status from the Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation (JANAAC) having met the required International Standard of ISO15189 that governs medical laboratories.

The laboratory utilises state of the art methods and cutting edge technology in order to provide our clients with the best service which includes a Laboratory Information System (LIS) for data management.

In order to assure the quality of test results and satisfy our customers, the Biomedical Caledonia Medical Laboratory has established, implemented and will continuously maintain a quality system appropriate to the scope of our activities. Overview of the Jamaica Stock Exchange

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ( JSE ) is an august institution which was incorporated in 1968 and started operation in 1969. The JSE started its operation at the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) building and moved to its present building situated at 40 Harbour Street in 1998. The JSE's principal mandate is the mobilization of capital to facilitate the growth and development of companies and by extension the economy.

The JSE Group has evolved over time into a strong and reputable business.

There were four founding members:

Stock trading is restricted to Broker-members who trade both as agents and as principals. In the latter capacity, certain restrictions apply to transactions between a Broker and his own client.

The Exchange is governed by a Board of Directors, which has the following composition:

A representative of the Ministry of Finance
Three persons other than shareholders
Up to ten shareholders representing members.
