The mission of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) is to create an enabling environment which grows and sustains industries in the agricultural sector while fostering gender equality and social inclusion in all our policies, programmes, and projects.
Our Ministry is responsible for driving the production of primary agricultural produce along all the stages of the supply chain and facilitating the full commercialisation of outputs of the agriculture, manufacturing, and service sectors. Through our various departments and agencies, we offer support that allows us to fulfil our mandates. Our agencies and departments include Agro-Invest Corporation, Coconut Industry Board, Jamaica 4-H Clubs, Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA), Jamaica Agricultural Society, and Jamaica Veterinary Board (JVB). National Irrigation Commission Ltd., SCJ Holdings Limited, Sugar Industry Authority,
The Banana Board, and Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) are also among our agencies. The mandates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries include developing sustainable food systems by driving local production of primary agricultural produce, livestock, and fisheries to widen the supply chain, integrate production up the value chain and foster youth in agriculture and agro- entrepreneurship.
