The functions of the Corporation shall be to provide public broadcasting services of high quality to promote:

The NWC supplies 190 million gallons of potable water each day to its more than 400,000 registered accounts representing about 2 million persons across Jamaica. Within the las t five decades, the growth of the industrial sector added to the establishment of several new residential communities in various sections of St. Andrew, St. Catherine and many other parishes across Jamaica, has led to the increased demand for potable water.

Over the years, the NWC has increased its emphasis on customer service by increasing the number of customer service centres and payment facilities island wide, the modernization of commercial offices, the use of significantly enhanced information technology, and through training activities for various employees in customer relations. Efforts are also continuing to minimize complaints by customers in relation to the various areas of service delivery by the NWC.

Shortwood Teachers' College is a Teacher Training Institution and was founded in 1885. Throughout the years, the College has offered programmes which prepare students to teach in the Early Childhood, Primary or Secondary level education. In August 2000, the Primary programme was discontinued. Shortwood is the only teachers college that trains teachers of French and Spanish. In August 2001, male students were accepted. Classes in Information Technology are offered to all Year groups, and all students are given access to the internet.

The clinic is an outpatient hand and microsurgery facility and was developed by board-certified Hand and Microsurgeon Dr. Cecil Aird. Comprehensive care will include diagnosis, surgery and rehabilitation of hand and wrist disorders in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

While there Nicosie was responsible for the transformation of their filing system and was also given the opportunity to observe first hand how these Attorneys were able to meet and exceed their client’s expectations. Nicosie was employed with Mr. Devesh Maharaj Attorneys-at-Law, while in Trinidad and Tobago, and had the privilege of assisting as a Research Assistant with the Piarco Airport Enquiry and provided invaluable assistance which led to a re-thinking of the role of the judiciary vis-à-vis a judicial code of ethics. In her quest to give back Nicosie was employed as a Legal Officer, at the Legal Aid and Counselling Clinic in Grenada, where she worked under the guidance of the Head of the LACC and Attorney-at-Law Mrs. Jacqueline Sealy-Burke. Her work was extensively in Family Law, doing divorces, adoptions, conveyancing, attended Court and litigated, land disputes in addition to many other areas. Nicosie’s work in Grenada was particularly gratifying, and she went beyond the call of duty as it involved a heavy social component, working with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence.

Nicosie applied for and obtained numerous protection orders for victims and was involved in their “Man to Man” programme and “Woman to Woman” programme assisting the participants learn how to detect abuse and how to break the cycle. She also participated in their social outreach programmes in Carriacou, bringing attention to the issues of domestic violence island wide.
