The Office of the Services Commissions (OSC) is the secretariat for four Services Commissions: The Public Service Commission, The Police Service Commission, The Judicial Service Commission, and The Local Government Services Commission.
As the Secretariat for the four Services Commissions within Central and Local Government, the OSC plays a crucial role in ensuring that appointments, promotions, and training selections are based on merit. It also manages the disciplinary and separation processes with utmost care and precision.
We also provide centralised stenotype services (recording and producing verbatim notes) to all ministries, departments and executive agencies to record conference proceedings, national commissions of enquiries, disciplinary enquiries, and the Gun Court.
According to the Constitution of Jamaica, the Governor-General, upon the advice of the Public Service Commission, the Police Service Commission, and the Judicial Service Commission, holds the authority to make appointments to public offices. The Governor-General also has the power to exercise disciplinary control and to remove individuals holding or acting in any such office.
