Incorporated in 1970, International Shipping Limited Jamaica (Intership) was part of the maritime division within the GraceKennedy (GK) group of companies until GK's exit from the maritime industry in 2004.
Now, under new ownership, the company serves as an agent for Höegh Autoliners - a leading global provider of transportation services within the Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) segment. Höegh Autoliners' global network touches upon all continents, as they serve an extensive number of ports with their direct services, including Jamaica via Intership. Höegh has transportation contracts with many leading vehicle manufacturers and is, in addition, a leading carrier of second-hand vehicles as well as high and heavy construction equipment and other rolling stock.
In 2010 Höegh Autoliners launched its new motor vehicle transhipment hub in Kingston which saw Höegh operating a direct service from Europe to Jamaica. This transhipment hub serves several Caribbean territories including Suriname, Guyana, French Guiana, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas, St. Lucia, Antigua, and The Dominican Republic.
In its over 50-year history, Intership has represented various shipping lines - both container, car carriers and freight forwarders. Our skilled and experienced staff remain committed to meeting the needs of our customers.
Intership also plays a prominent role as a member of the Shipping Association of Jamaica and the Caribbean Shipping Association.
