Manuchant Ltd. was formed in 1994 in order to provide affordable, implants to the Jamaican population. At that time, the Orthopaedic training programme had started at the Univ ersity of the West Indies. The cost of implants was prohibitive and only accessible by the rich and upper middle class.

Manuchant accessed and provided a wide range of implants for trauma surgery at affordable prices. Within the first year of business, they began to provide surgeons, for the first time in Jamaica, with a complete range of implants for Total Knee Arthroplasty and Total Hip Arthroplasty.

The trauma line expanded to include the unusual specialist plates, and by the following year, interlocking nails with a full range of implant choices was a reality. This coincided with the provision of much-needed power tools for Orthopaedic Surgery in the Public Hospitals.

Endoscopic equipment was outdated and rudimentary at that time, with only manual tools being available. Manuchant Ltd. expa nded its services to include support by way of arthroscopic accessories. In 2004, the need for more space coincided with an expansion into the soft goods market and with the exception of orthotics shoes provided a wide range of braces for most injuries.

In June 2005, Manuchant was the dominant supplier of Orthopaedic implants and services in the country. Health care services in the United States had become very expensive for non-Americans, and Manuchant saw an opportunity to provide a “high-end” product in Jamaica to the market segment that could afford it.

Manuchant now supplies a mix of Orthopaedic implants for trauma, spine, arthroplasty, orthotics and soft goods from its office in Kingston.

On the business side, Manuchant Ltd. is respected in its practices by both local and foreign entities and is compliant with all local laws and agencies.
