Since 1949, CLICO St. Lucia, under the skilful and pioneering marketing initiatives of the Superintendent of Agencies, Mr. Cyril Monsanto, a St. Lucian by birth, has enabled the average citizen to build a secure future by providing life insurance for himself and his family.
Mr. Monsanto, who was considered at the time the builder of Colonial Life, dominated the early development of CLICO, focusing his energy on providing the Company with a strong Agency Force.
At that time, the insurance operation in St Lucia comprised of an Administrative department and small sales force. The main office was located on Micoud Street, Castries. The Offices were later opened in Vieux Fort and Gros Islet.
The Agency experienced minimum success during the period 1949 - 1994. On January 1994, CLICO International Life Insurance Limited (CIL)
asubsidiary of CL Financial, commenced business in Barbados and took over the insurance portfolio of the Eastern Caribbean Islands. CIL obtained approval from the Supervisor of Insurance for St. Lucia on June 30, 2000 and the Company opened its new office complex on Brazil Street on November 2, 2000.
CLICO St. Lucia purchased a 22-acre housing project at Dennery, which is our second housing development in St. Lucia, the first being, the Rodney Bay Development, constructed by our sister Company Home Construction out of Trinidad. We also provide an Annual CLICO Challenge Scholarship to enhance the educational opportunities for students of our valued policyholders.

Due to the collapse of our Parent Company CL Financial and by extension CLICO Holdings Limited, the St Lucian agency was placed under Judicial Management from April 11, 2011 until this present time.
