5 backpack essentials for school

backpack-2

Parents are sighing, children are crying, the end of summer draws near and we all know what that means…back to school time is here. Having a well-organised backpack with all the essentials is important and can help make that first day and the rest of the year go as smoothly as a jar of peanut butter. Here are 5 backpack essentials all students should have.

1. The backpack

Okay, this seems obvious but the backpack you choose is important. Side bags or messenger bags are stylish but a two-strap backpack is better for neck and back health especially when the bag is heavy.

2. Reusable water bottle

We all know it’s important to stay hydrated. Carrying a reusable water bottle is a great way to make sure that H20 is at hand throughout the day; it also saves money and is better for the environment.

3. Small essentials kit

Pack a small bag with those handy personal items that we never seem to have around when we need them like tissues, medications, personal hygiene products, bandages, hand cream, lip balm etc. Keeping these items in a small kit makes sure things stay organised and easy to find.

4. Two-pocket folder

A folder is a backpack must to store and organise all the handouts and loose sheets that one gets during the school term. For high schoolers and college students one folder per subject provides an even better level of organisation; no more misplacing important sheets of information or that homework you need to hand in.

5. Two pens, two pencils

Make sure that you head out to school with two pens, two pencils and two highlighters – one to use and one as a backup. There’s no need to weigh yourself down with more.
