Here are five tips that artists can improve their brand awareness.
- Understand your Audience
Once you determine your style, concept or message, the next step is to get in tune with your audience. Understanding the audience drawn to your network will help you determine what kind of art to make and publicize. This is call ‘social listening’ and it entails reading the comments and paying attention engagement, such as likes, comments, re-tweets and shares.
- Observe the Demographic
In taking social listening a step further, filtering through your supporters by age group and gender can help you target who and what kind of art to make to appeal to them. If you happen to run a completion, then this can help you determine your ‘super fans’ or ‘super users.’
- Get Listed and Published

Any marketer worth their salt knows that word of mouth is the best form of advertising. An example of a good referral program is Dropbox, where they offered 16G of storage space when existing customers referred a friend. If you take a page from Dropbox’s book, this will generate tons of word of mouth that will generate sign ups and new followers.
- Social Media Contest
Run a social media contest that your fans can sink their teeth into. Social media contests build a community and a strong following. You want of offer a prize that incentivises people to enter and join your platform. Take it a step further and purchase a Facebook or Instagram to extend your reach. You can determine your own budget and length of the contest on either platform
