Aruba National Flag Day & Anthem Day
18th March marks Aruba’s Flag and Anthem Day; a day of pride strongly displayed by Arubans.
The Aruban flag, bright blue in dominance with two yellow horizontal lines and a red four-pointed star in the left corner, was adopted on 18th March 1976. On the same day, the National anthem was founded; known as “Aruba Dushi Tera” composed by Padu del Caribe, Hubert Booi and Rufo Wever.
Impressive historic productions take place annually on 18th March at Plaza Betico Croes in Oranjestad, marking the National Flag and Anthem Day. This year, the day will fall on a Saturday.
This official holiday celebration in Aruba features many cultural events focused around the day and honouring Aruban gastronomy. Sporting events and games are held across the island as well.
