Barbados Festival of Speed 2017

Barbados’ second annual Festival of Speed will take place at Bushy Park in St Philip on Saturday, October 14th 2017.

Headlined by former Formula One champion Jenson Button, this one-day event which runs from 2pm in the day until 10pm at night, promises spectators a truly unique and epic experience.

The festival is set to feature a range of activities for all ages, both on and off the track, including a classic car parade, stunt bikes as well as some of the finest supercars in the world and a night-time aerial display by ‘The Twister Aerobatics Team’ the only European outfit certified to fly after-dark shows.

Jenson will compete against some of the best drivers in the Caribbean and beyond including some budding racing drivers.

The event will feature a cross-section of all the clubs and disciplines on the island including circuit racing, drag racing and karting.

In a recorded message for the festival, Jenson said: “I’m really looking forward to some fun driving challenges and I can’t wait to see you all. It’s going to an amazing event.”

Jenson, who retired from F1 at the end of last season, is the winner of 15 Grand Prix races and a podium finisher on 50 occasions. He’s still an ambassador for McLaren-Honda and on its reserve driver list.

Last year the inaugural festival received international and regional media attention after it was headlined by British driver and three-time F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, who has family ties with the Caribbean.
