Barbados Food and Rum Festival 2018
The ninth edition of the Barbados Food and Rum Festival will be held from 18th-21st October and this year’s event is promising to provide even more tantalising ‘culinary and beverage experiences’ at prestigious locations across the island.
Four days of eating and drinking indulgence begins on Thursday with a free-to-attend launch party at Oistins fishing village. Top local chefs will prepare a variety of Barbadian-inspired grilled dishes under the stars accompanied by live music and a relaxed atmosphere.
An all-inclusive ‘Rum extravaganza – taste of the exotic’ event will be held in the evening on Friday 19th October at the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre. This night will give patrons the chance to explore “the rich origins” of Barbados’ history with rum while tasting “unique hors d’oeuvres” and “delicious aperitifs”.
On Saturday 20th October, the ‘Dine Around’ event, also known as the ‘Gourmet Safari’, will switch the spotlight to restaurants and hotels all around the island with meals for every budget. Some of the participating venues include Daphne’s Restaurant and Colony Club.
On Sunday the festival comes to a fitting climax from 3pm-7pm with an all-inclusive afternoon of polo, rum cocktails and canapes at the sprawling Holders Hill Estate in St James.
All the cocktails being served will be inspired by the “best in polo fashion”.
Award-winning British chef Tom Aikens, who has appeared on various TV shows including Saturday Kitchen, Iron Chef and the Great British Menu, will once again be flying in to showcase his talent during the four-day festival.
Aikens will be joined by various local chefs who are ready and waiting to demonstrate why Barbados is considered the culinary capital of the Caribbean.
