Jazz ‘n Creole Festival 2018
Dominica’s Jazz ’n Creole Festival is an impressive and vibrant fusion of jazz music with Creole music, food, and culture. The festival was first presented in 2010 by Discover Dominica Authority. Each year, the festival has grown as patrons appreciate the inviting and casual ambiance of one of Dominica’s major tourism attractions.
The festival began as a one day event on Pentecost Sunday and targeted families, couples, and music enthusiasts. It is now hosted during the Pentecost holiday weekend to mobilize Dominicans to the Portsmouth area, supporting the Staycation initiative, and to attract visitors from the wider Caribbean, and Dominicans living overseas. In 2016, the main stage event welcomed over 2,600 patrons.
The festival mainstage is held annually at Fort Shirley in Dominica’s Cabrits National Park. Performing artists this year include Michele Henderson, Xavier Strings, STARZ and Extacy Band.
This year the Jazz ’n Creole Festival’s mainstage production will be held on Sunday 20th May. Tickets for this event are $60 in advance and $75 at the gate. Teens between the ages of 13 and 17 are $25 and children 12 and under are free. You can purchase your tickets early at the DFC office.
