Kingdom Day 2017
Kingdom Day occurs annually on 15th December and commemorates the day in which Queen Juliana signed the Character for the Kindgom in the Hall of Knights in 1954. At the time, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Suriname and the Netherland Antilles which consists of Aruba, Bonaire, Curucao, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba.
Kingdom Day is a legal holiday in Aruba and Bonaire. Government buildings and private buildings are closed, as well as schools.
This year, Kingdom Day falls on a Friday and is a perfect long weekend for a getaway, December beach day or just spend the day relaxing in paradise.
There are often parties accosiated with Kingdom Day in Aruba and Bonaire that take place the night before and during the long weekend.
