Kings Day Aruba
Kings Day is an official public holiday in Aruba. The government ceremony paying tribute to HM King Willem-Alexander is followed by numerous sporting events and family-friendly celebrations. Sports competitions, kite flying contests and fun-filled activities are held at various sites including community centres. Many restaurants and bars also hold celebrations.
Aruba is part of the Royal Kingdom of The Netherlands and recognises the Dutch royalty as its leaders. Occasionally the royal family visit Aruba and the other Dutch islands for Kings Day.
This year, the public holiday falls on Thursday 27th April. This is the perfect opportunity for families to take the long weekend and travel, relax on island or take part in the festivities or local parties.
It is also a peak time for tourists to visit.
