My Grenada Style: Raquel Leid

Raquel Leid is the designer behind the vibrant colourful design brand Always Leid. A lover of unique thrift finds and easy breezy timeless fashion, for this Grenadian Style, Raquel shares her fashion and beauty favourites.

Where do you shop in Grenada?

I usually make my own pieces. However, I do enjoy thrifting and going to yard sales. This is a guaranteed way of scoring unique pieces that you won’t see anywhere else. It also challenges me to get creative and reconstruct pieces that may be outdated.

What are your classic ‘must have’ items of clothing in your closet?

A look inside my closet will reveal oversized shirt dresses, high waist denim shorts, funky and colourful shirts, black maxi dresses and comfy flats.

Is there a particular style of clothing or jewellery that you favour?

I prefer comfortable, breezy clothing. I hate feeling restricted. I also love statement jewellery.  They add character to an outfit easily.

Do you prefer wearing flats or heels?

Definitely flats. I have no interest in hobbling around like a baby calf when my feet start hurting.

What is your favourite lipstick?

Difficult to choose, but one of my favourite is “Limbo” a chocolate brown by Colourpop.

What perfume do you wear?

Killer Queen by Katy Perry or Fantasy by Britney Spears.

Where do you get your hair styled?

I normally do my hair myself, but on the rare occasion that I visit the hairdresser, my friend Ryanna Worme, who is the owner of “The Hair Affair”, looks after me.

Which celebrity’s style do you most admire?

Solange Knowles.

What style tips did your mother pass onto you?

Wear what you’re comfortable in and not what is on trend.
