Off the Beaten Track 2018
Sunday 25th February kicks off Cayman’s only off road 50k ultra marathon and relay race, the Off the Beaten Track (OTBT) challenge.
Now in its eighth year, OTBT is an annual charity marathon designed to imitate the world’s toughest race, the Marathon des Sables. The exciting route provides participants an opportunity to explore Grand Cayman’s greatest hidden treasures, with a variety of terrains to test the skills of every level of runner.
There are two options for participants:
- For the experienced runner, there is an opportunity to tackle this 50 kilometre cross-country course as a solo runner.
- Gather a group of up to six people and participate in the relay, collectively running the distance over six legs.
Established in 2010, OTBT maintains its adrenaline-charged reputation in Grand Cayman with a different route every year.
With the help of international running champion, Derek Larner of Race Caribbean, designing the course, expect to be pushed to absolute limits as he conjures paths for this route that may not even exist until just days before the event.
So whether you are a running enthusiast or someone who wants to try something new, consider taking part in this year’s OTBT.
All proceeds from the event will go to local charities in Cayman.
