Rainbow City Festival 2018
“Forging ahead together as a Parish” is the theme for Rainbow City Festival 2018.
Events for the annual festival begin on 3 August and ends on 6 August.
The festival was launched by the St. Andrew’s Development Organisation (SADO). And as Rainbow City Festival 2018 draws nearer the organisers look forward to a successful event with even greater participation from parishioners and those in the diaspora. The annual festival epitomises SADO’s motto: Toward Greater Participation for Community Development.
Residents of St. Andrew and its enclaves can look forward to a weekend of fun activities for the whole family as the parishioners come together celebrating their culture.
Each year members of the St. Andrew parish and visitors enjoy sporting activities, drumming, dancing, food and an exhibition of the cultural traditions of residents.
This year the festivities will begin with the St. Andrew soca monarch finals and culminate with an early morning freedom jump, a street fiesta at midday and an emancipation march in the evening.
There are many other activities for families to participate in such as the Wesley “Bateye” Thomas Rainbow City football competition and touring of the Kalinago Village. And, for those a bit more fashion forward, there is also the Miss Afro Caribbean Queen Show.
This year’s line-up of activities has something for everyone to enjoy.
