Who Yah Fah? Genealogy Lecture
If you’ve been ever been curious about your lineage, The National Trust for the Cayman Islands will be hosting a unique genealogy event on Saturday 18th November. Members of the public will be granted the opportunity to explore their ancestry and take part in the journey of DNA testing.
World-renewed genetic genealogist Blaine Bettinger Ph.D., is visiting the Cayman Islands exclusively for this event.
“Who Yah Fah” will be held at the Town Hall in George Town. During this 1-day workshop, Dr. Bettinger will discuss Genetic Genealogy, which is the use of genetics to learn about one’s ancestry and ancient roots, and will advise on how to undertake DNA testing.
Dr. Bettinger is a property attorney by day and a DNA specialist by night. He is one of the pioneers of genetic genealogy. He started The Genetic Genealogist (www.thegeneticgenealogist.com), one of the earliest blogs on the topic. He frequently gives presentations all over the United States to educate people about the use of DNA, the benefits and rewards of exploring our ancestry and how it makes us unique.
The event will take place from 9am to 3pm. Tickets are priced at $50 per person, which includes a light lunch. All proceeds from the event will support the National Trust’s Historic Programmes.
