What started in 1955 as an ambitious venture has evolved into one of the island's most recognised companies and a household name. The catchy slogan "wat Kan kan, kan Kan alleen" was proven true and has transcended generations.
The partnership between Aruba's first Optometrist Mr Manichi Oduber and Jeweller, Mr Sal Kan, later joined by Optician Hans Jansen, never compromised the company's high-quality offerings and top customer service. The Specialists have come a long way as one of the island's oldest, most stable companies.
In 1996, Optometrist Bert de Vries joined the team and took over as managing director together with his wife and financial advisor RoseMarie de Vries. Our motto is now "Our Mission Your Vision" as they continue to bring the importance of eye care to the forefront.
As for the future, Optician Marcus de Vries and Retail Professional Iris de Vries have re-entered the business. They bring with them years of optical experience working for international companies from the Netherlands and USA.
In 2014, we introduced a commercial hearing company to the island, offering the latest hearing devices. Now, in addition to our vision screenings, eye exams, contact lenses exams, we provide hearing aid services and more. Additionally, we test for astigmatism, computer and sports vision. Our experienced staff also guides our patients in selecting the best frame, ensuring it suits their medical needs, style, appearance and budget.
