October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At this time, several organisations plan and execute awareness campaigns and events where people can learn more about the disease, connect with others who might be impacted, and find support.
On 26 October 2024, the Cancer Society of The Bahamas Eleuthera will host its 3rd Annual Beach Walk. Later in the evening, the Pink Rose Ball will take place in Abaco. We have a few details about these events.
This event, organised by the Cancer Society of the Bahamas Eleuthera, is held on the last Saturday of October each year. The walk takes place at French Leave Beach from 6am to 7am. Registration costs $25 per person. Interested people from organisations, community groups, locals, and visitors can join by registering. Please email cancersocietyeleuthera@live.com or call (242) 332-1804 for registration and additional information.
Note: French Leave Beach is off Queen's Highway, Governor's Harbour, in
Eleuthera, Bahamas.
Ms Melinda Pinder established The Pink Rose Ball in 2013 to support those battling cancer. Dubbed Abaco's Pink Carpet Affair, the ball aims to raise funds to support the Abaco Cancer Society and people on the island with cancer.
The event is organised by a dedicated group of women (known as the Magnificent Eight), who plan and execute a night of entertainment, awareness, community spirit, and joy. This year's theme, "Rush for the Cure," is inspired by our vibrant Junkanoo.
