The Barbados Cricket Association was established in 1933 by an Act of Parliament.
The BCA is the principal steward of cricket on the island and as a member of Cricket West Indies, the Association is the CWI local agent. There is no other national sport association in Barbados whose existence and operations are so closely intertwined with the culture and identity of the country, and the Association's slogan 'Cricket at the core of national development' reflects this reality.
A highly respected institution throughout the region, the Association has benefited from excellent public and private sector support over the years, with the ultimate legacy being the consistent preparation of players to represent the West Indies.
An enduring legacy of the BCA's excellent stewardship is the symbiotic national and regional existence borne out of Cricket World Cup 2007.
Barbados has enjoyed such a high reputation for the management of cricket events that both the International Cricket Council's 50 over and Twenty20 World Cup finals have been staged at Kensington Oval.
Domestic cricket has grown to such an extent that there are now 118 teams, representing 80 clubs and schools in the BCA's competitions, with over 1,700 players and officials turning out every weekend in Barbados.
