The Barbados Employers Confederation (BEC) was founded in 1956. It is a private sector trade union that represents its members on an array of issues such as industrial relations, human resources management, and occupational health and safety.
We also keep our employers up to date on current trends via our newsletter, open forums, and numerous training programmes throughout the year.
We are dedicated to assisting businesses with their people management strategy through the development and promotion of good industrial relations at the macro and micro levels.
While we are a membership-based organisation, our services can be accessed by employers across Barbados. It is our aim to guide, protect, and propel the growth of organisations operating within Barbados.
To advocate for the interest of our members and affiliates, we represent Barbadian employers on several boards and national committees including the National Insurance Board, the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council, and the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Health and Safety.
As a social partner in Barbados, the BEC works to develop and strengthen relationships with government, employee representative bodies, and the private sector. This extends beyond national interest to the regional and international community as well, through our alliances with organisations such as the Caribbean Employers Confederation, the International Organization of Employers, and the International Labour Organization.
