Overview
The Barbados Labour Party (BLP) was established on 31 March 1938.
At its inaugural meeting, the party set objectives to enable political expression and for Barbadians to participate in the democratic process.
The BLP has good reason to be proud of its leaders and their records through the passing of significant social legislation, steady economic management, strong infrastructure, improvement of the status of women and current plans for the alleviation of poverty.
The BLP also owes a great debt to all its supporters who, throughout the years, have staunchly adhered to the party's philosophy and upheld its ideals.
