Barbados Wildlife Reserve

Saint Andrew

Overview

People often ask, "is there a zoo in Barbados?". No, we actually have something even better - a wildlife reserve!

The Barbados Wildlife Reserve is situated in a natural mahogany wood opposite Farley Hill National Park in the northern parish of St. Peter.

Here, visitors have a unique opportunity to stroll freely through the reserve while watching the animals at close range and in their own natural environment. You might see the Barbados green monkey, the Cuban iguana, mongoose, Brocket deer, pelicans, maras, caiman, tortoises, and the flamingo.

There are few cages, and the animals can be observed as they eat, play, and interact with each other. You must look carefully as you walk through, as the animals could be anywhere.

It's a self-guided tour so there is no need to rush; take your time, explore at your own pace, and re-visit your favourite animals.;
