Electric Sales & Service Ltd was incorporated in Barbados as a supplier and distributor of electrical goods and services over 86 years ago.
We were the first agents of General Electric appliances on the island. In 1965 the company was sold to USI, a large American company, and was incorporated under its worldwide umbrella.
Over the years the company expanded into heavy mechanical machines with its main brand 'Caterpillar'. Many additional lines were added to the growing portfolio of the company, and during the 1960s Trane air-conditioning and OTIS Elevators were added to the list.
In 1977, USI ceased operating in the Caribbean, and the company was split into two divisions
mechanical and electrical. The mechanical division was sold to Plantrac, a division of Neal & Massy, while the electrical division was sold to local concerns and Electric Sales & Service Ltd was repositioned and began trading as ESSCO.
Over the years ESSCO has solidified its position as a leader in each of the categories it operates and represents some of the world's leading brands. ESSCO's mission is to be the best service provider, locally and regionally, for the supply, installation and maintenance of air conditioning, elevators, lifts, appliances, and hand tools by sustaining customer confidence reinforced by delivering quality systems and solutions on time and on budget.
