The Schoolhouse for Special Needs is located in the heart of St Michael at Reservoir Road, Brittons Hill and provides quality, specialized programs for children from four years old with learning and developmental challenges. Class groups are intimate and do not exceed eight students. Our teachers appreciate different learning paces/styles and go above and beyond to meet the special needs of each student.
The Schoolhouse maintains a team-work policy between students, parents, teachers and therapists…ultimately, providing a safe, happy and stimulating environment for our students to grow and develop in their own unique way. We are structured under three main categories: students with mild to moderate learning difficulties
pupils with developmental/cognitive delays and those who are physically challenged
young adults with moderate learning difficulties who are developing potential careers in the art, craft and hospitality industries. The Schoolhouse has a full complement of qualified and dedicated staff headed by Founder and Principal, Yasmin Vlahakis.
With recommendations from professionals and the consideration of the overall needs of each student, The Schoolhouse utilizes a wide range of strategies and tools that spread across our extensive spectrum of subjects from Language Arts to Music Appreciation. The Schoolhouse also allows students with mild academic challenges to enter on a day release basis and reintegrate into mainstream after successfully completing the required processes.
The Schoolhouse engages in ongoing enrolment and does not limit admission singularly to the commencement of the academic year. So, parents are encouraged to call and learn about our program anytime!
