Crystal Auto Rental was founded in 1989 by Jay Crofton, a native of Conroe, Texas. During the mid 70’s while on numerous camping trips through Mexico and Central America Jay discovered the jewel of Belize and fell in love with this island type paradise country and as a bonus they also spoke his language.
On his travel to Belize during the oil bust in the U.S. Jay flew down instead of driving as he had normally done and had one of the worst experiences ever trying to rent a car. Jay knew he could improve the local rental experience and within 4 months had a caravan of 10 vehicles coming to Belize and Crystal Auto Rental was born.
Over 26 years, Crystal has grown from 10 vehicles into a fleet of over 250 new and used vehicles, which is more than all our competitors combined. Our main office is situated in Belize City and we also operate out of the Philip Goldson International Airport. Crystal is one the few rental companies to offer services to the Mayan ruins of Tikal in Guatemala. Our growth and success has been attributed to our ‘value for dollar’ business model coupled with our high standards of customer service which has been reflected in our repeat rentals and numerous customer referrals.

Big thanks to Crystal for your excellent service and your well maintained car. For one week, up to the 8th of May, we´ve rented a Jeep 4x4 Latitude to travel around the wonderful country of Belize.
We arrived by boat in Belize city, one phonecall and you offered to pick us up,
we needed to go to a bus station after bringing back the car, you took us there. We felt comfortable while driving your car, also the prize for rental was totally okay.
