Welcome to Discovery Kids!
Created, owned and operated by parents, the team at Discovery Kids invites you to discover the unique, safe and nurturing environment designed specifically for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our specialised programme is intended to promote learning and development through fun and positive experiences.
Discovery Kids has adopted the High Scope Curriculum, which is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The High Scope educational approach emphasises “active, participatory learning”. This approach encourages children to have direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events and ideas.
At Discovery Kids we encourage children’s natural inclination to play by providing planned activities and learning materials that enhance their development through play and exploration. Learning and development are further enhanced by trusting, and nurturing relationships with teachers and caregivers, who are always close at hand to support the children in their daily routine.
Facility, materials and equipment:
The space and materials at Discovery Kids are arranged to promote active learning within a safe, clean and comfortable environment. Our facility provides a home away from home atmosphere, allowing children to feel at ease. The space is divided into organised areas around specific kinds of play, activities and care. The daily routine allows children to move about the facility to appropriate areas such as, classrooms for lessons, manipulative toy area, reading and puppet nook, movement area, arts and crafts area and spaces for diapering, meals, and naps.
Daily schedules and care giving routines:
The programme at Discovery Kids gives children a sense of control over the events of the day through a planned predictable, yet flexible daily routine. The routine consists of arrivals and departures, choice times, learning group times (small and large), meals, story time and free play times. These common daily activities are scheduled to accommodate the eating, sleeping, and bodily care cycles of each child.
