City & Guilds is the world's leading vocational awarding body. We offer services to governments, training providers, employers, and trainees across a variety of sectors to meet the needs of today's workplace. Our qualifications represent a prestigious and instantly recognisable certification, which our graduates can take anywhere in the world to obtain employment. Last year, we registered over 2 million learners. With our head office based in London, we operate in 80 countries across the world. We are recognised as being among the Top 100 British brands!

  • We've been shaping skilled workforces since 1878. Our history provides a wealth of experience in developing quality products and services to help people and businesses develop the skills they needs to succeed.
  • We set the standard for professional and technical skills across the world.
  • We offer a wide range of internationally recognised City & Guilds and ILM qualifications, as well as our accreditation services.
  • Qualifications
  • Our qualifications are for people at every stage of their careers. They are designed to help people and organisations acquire the skills they need to succeed - from those looking to enter work for the first time, such as through an apprenticeship, to senior managers who want to progress into their next leadership role. City & Guilds and ILM qualifications are delivered through over 10,000 approved centres across the world, made up of education and training providers, as well as employers.
  • We offer full guidance and support to education providers and employers in delivering, assessing and verifying their training programmes.
  • Our quality consultants review and assess existing learning programmes delivered by employers and training providers, to determine if they meet required quality and industry standards. Programmes that meet our standards receive accreditation.
  • The Group offers accreditation service through City & Guilds. A similar recognition service for in-house management training is offered through ILM.
  • City & Guilds Accreditation and ILM Recognition are seen as leading international benchmarks for quality in-house training.
  • International Vocational Qualifications: The International Vocational Qualifications (IVQs) are mapped to the British National Vocational Qualifications and were designed to allow persons to cross borders and work with recognizable qualifications. These are currently available in Jamaica at three levels (Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels). The assessment is via theory exams that are set and marked in the UK and practical tasks that are assessed locally under the oversight of City & Guilds External Verifiers (EVs). We provide qualifications across disciplines that include Engineering, Information Technology, Culinary Arts, Construction, Hair & Beauty, Security, Tourism, Healthcare, Teaching & Training and Motor Vehicle Engineering.
  • International Awards (IAs): These are "bite-sized" chunks of our IVQs. They are designed for persons seeking formal recognition of acquired skills and are available for persons pursuing entry-level qualifications. Learners must demonstrate knowledge of standards within these awards. These are available across seventeen (17) disciplines and the assessment is via practical tasks or portfolio development that are under the oversight of City & Guilds appointed External Verifiers (EVs).
  • Math Skills and English Skills (#3850): These qualifications are being offered in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Youth & Information to students in Grade 11 and the Career Advancement Programme (CAP). Ours is a competency based examination unlike CSEC's concept-based exam approach. We offer a staged approach that allows students to progress within their own capability. There are three (3) stages within the Math and English qualifications with Stage 3 being most closely aligned to CSEC. Each stage is a free standing single subject with its own certification. Our English qualification is assessed via a written paper that as set and marked in UK and an oral examination that as assessed internally under the oversight of C&G External
  • Verifiers. Candidates must achieve proficiency in both the written and oral examination to gain the over-arching certification. Exams for our Math are set and marked in the UK. The assessment is via a 2-hour multiple-choice paper.
  • Business Subjects: These are former Pitmanâ qualifications that were re-branded when City & Guilds acquired Pitman Qualifications. They comprise business-type qualification and are similar in structure to the regional CSEC business subjects except that the qualifications are available in levels. Each level is a free-standing single subject with its own certification. The assessment is via theory papers that are set and marked in UK.
