General Information

The Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) is committed to rescue, heal and protect Jamaica's animals. We have been working for over100 years to protect animals from cruelty, neglect, injury and abandonment, and to defend and promote animal rights.

We operate a shelter and a veterinary clinic at 10 Winchester Road, Kingston 10, open to the public, which deals with more than three hundred charity cases per week. It is equipped with a laboratory, surgical suites, isolation unit, and maternity ward. In addition, we have a clinic located in Caymanas Park, Portmore, St Catherine and Coke Avenue, Montego Bay, St James.

Our mission is to promote the compassionate treatment of animals through education, advocacy, and veterinary care. We also seek to find loving homes for the animals housed in our shelter. The JSPCA strives towards the improvement of conditions at pounds and abattoirs, as well as the racetrack and riding establishments in Jamaica.

All reported cases of cruelty or neglect are investigated and action is taken as quickly as possible.

We are associated with the RSPCA in England, and also maintain good relationships with various humane societies in the USA and the Caribbean.

We are the oldest animal welfare organisation in the English-speaking Caribbean.

My Cat's Bladder Obstruction Treatment

1
30 Jun 2021

IF YOU LOVE AND CARE ABOUT YOUR PET. DO NOT TAKE HIM TO J.S.P.C.J. They care ZERO for animals! I brought my cat there on May 6, 2021, and Dr Green and Dr Jones attended to him. They discharged my cat on May 26, 2021, after they damaged my cat's urethral tract. I brought the cat to a private Veterinary Medical Center, only to be told of the extent of the damage they did. Now, not even an operation can fix my cat and the only recommendation is to put my cat down. He is my only company. They knew they could not help him but they kept him there while collecting thousands of dollars every week while I had to purchase food for him during his stay. There is so much to say about these people. They don't care about the animals but to collect money from you the moment they realize that you love your pet and will do anything to make your pet better. Hungry money Grabbing People. I am so angry both with myself and them because I was going to take him from there but procrastinated. I am so sad and in despair about this decision. So hard to deal with. They don't deserve even a quarter of a star but only for the purpose of the review.
