The National Land Agency (NLA) is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. Established in April 2001 through the Government of Jamaica's Public Sector Modernisation Programme, the NLA consolidates vital land information functions, including land titling, surveying, mapping, land valuation, and estate management. This amalgamation fosters the development of a modern national land (spatial) information system to support sustainable growth.
Later, in 2019, two new divisions were formed out of the merger with the Land Administration and Management Programme (LAMP) and the NLA. They are the Land Administration and Management Division (LAMD) and the Adjudication Services Division (ASD). The Divisions were established to advance the voluntary land titling process through the LAMD and Systematic Land Titling through the ASD.
The significance of accurate geographical data for Jamaica is acknowledged, as it aids decision-makers in both the public and private sectors. The agency's traditional services, such as land registration, underpin development, as investment decisions are closely tied to land titling.
A key objective of the Public Sector Modernisation Programme is to enhance public service through business process improvements, computerisation, online access, one-stop-shopping, regionalisation, and spatial information infrastructure.
The NLA prioritizes client satisfaction and engages regularly with stakeholders to refine and expand its services. The agency is committed to staff development and maintaining an environment that encourages excellence.
