The Caribbean School of Medical Sciences, Jamaica (CSMSJ) started in 2014 with its first cohort of Associate Degree in Natural and Applied Sciences. Classes commenced on 15 April 2015, and the first cohort of Doctor of Medicine Degree students began on 31 August 2015.
The doctors trained at CSMSJ will be able to apply the principles of prevention, and diagnose and manage their patients' conditions, thus contributing to their healing and well-being. They will be able to employ the principle of the doctor-patient relationship and maintain confidentiality in the discharge of their duties.
CSMSJ graduates will also be trained to contribute to the community of their practice and residence
