Antigua and Barbuda will hold a General Election on 18 January 2023, Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced on Monday 19 December.

Nomination Day will be 28 December. The election was constitutionally due in March 2023.

Speaking at the launch of candidates for the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), Mr Browne said he had already asked Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams, to dissolve Parliament and issue the writs for the polls.

In 2018, Mr Browne’s ABLP won 15 of the 17 seats.

The main opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) and the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) claimed the other two seats.
