The Jolly Harbour Yacht Club’s Annual Regatta will take place this year from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 November.

The regatta is a popular fixture on the Antigua calendar of events.

It usually features at least 16 boats in different classes, such as racing and cruising, with crews of experienced and amateur sailors. There are four races on Saturday and three on Sunday and a prize-giving ceremony on Sunday evening.

Patrons are also treated to live music and plenty of food and drink.

The Jolly Harbour Yacht Club, which was founded in May 1993, has hosted the Antigua Sailing Week, the Carib Cup Regatta and the annual Valentine’s Regatta.

According to the club’s website: “The Annual Regatta came into being after the Yacht Club lost the hosting of the Carib Cup when it was suggested that the winning island take it over.”

It adds that the club also “runs Saturday afternoon racing every week and both members and guests are invited to participate.”

The Saturday race starts and finishes in Jolly Harbour with a variety of courses taking the participants out to Five Islands and into Five Island Bay.
