Summer is just around the corner, which means the beach is calling, and it’s time to think about swimwear.

Luckily, if you’re searching for the perfect one-piece swimsuit, a playful bikini, or an eye-catching beach wrap, you don’t have to go far because the Caribbean has several talented and homegrown swimwear designers.

Here are four Caribbean swimwear brands making a splash!

Marie Collette (Trinidad and Tobago)

Marie Collette was established in 2013 by designer and creative director Keisha Collette Thomas. The company website says: “Keisha had long been an admirer of anything high-fashion and what some may consider unusual. Naturally, the Marie Collette brand had become a medium by which she expresses her own interpretation of this. Each piece is distinctive, reflecting her signature style.”

DTS Swim (Jamaica)

Designer Daniela Stone is the creative force behind the bold and daring DTS Swim brand. Aimed at women who want a “unique, trendy, exotic, and colourful wardrobe”, DTS Swim offers monokinis, bikinis, cover-up pants and dresses. All designs are handmade in Jamaica.

Suga Apple Swim (Barbados)

A Barbadian lifestyle business established in 2014, Suga Apple Swim is known for its cheeky, comfortable and confident swimwear pieces. Founded by designer Kimberley Angoy, the brand has developed a dedicated and growing following, which was further enhanced when Barbadian superstar Rihanna was once spotted in one of the brand’s all-in-one creations.

Pas Jalou (St Lucia)

The Pas Jalou Swimwear brand was started in 2018 by St Lucian entrepreneur Kashima Montoute.

The company website says the brand “aims to provide fashionable style swimwear to women of almost all body types.” The brand also caters for boys and men with uniquely styled, clean-cut board shorts for ages six months and up.

The name ‘Pas Jalou’ in Saint Lucian dialect means “don’t be jealous”.

So, grab your sunglasses, hat, towel, and some sunblock, and with a stunning swimsuit from one of these Caribbean brands, you’ll be ready to turn heads at any one of our beautiful beaches!
