American Helen Dyer is credited with the quote, “Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mould the present into a future of which we can all be proud.” In 2023, over 4000 Arubans raised their ‘voices’ by participating in the annual Aruba Doet.

Launched in 2013, the Aruba Doet is part of one of the largest volunteering initiatives in the region and is organised by Centro Pa Desaroyo (CEDE) Aruba in collaboration with Oranje Fonds. The Netherlands, Bonaire, Curacao, St. Eustatius, Saba, and St. Maarten engage in similar programs simultaneously. This year’s campaign will be held throughout the Kingdom on 15 and 16 March 2024.

Those who volunteer welcome the opportunity to serve and have fun while doing so. Families and friends register for jobs so that they can work alongside each other. Others who are unsure of what jobs would be most suitable are guided by CEDE Aruba. From giving neighbourhood youth centres or schools an uplift to enjoying recreational activities with seniors, there’s always something for everyone to do.

Are you interested in putting your voice into action this March? There are several fun jobs on the list waiting for would-be volunteers. You can visit the Aruba Doet website to view the list of jobs and to register.
