Apple cider vinegar has been getting a lot of interest recently as an elixir with a range of health benefits.

Whether you want to lose weight, soothe a sore throat, lower blood sugar levels, improve symptoms of diabetes or reduce cholesterol, apple cider vinegar is believed to help with all these conditions and more.

It is even said to be able to stop hiccups and alleviate cold symptoms and can also be used for cooking and to clean around the house!

*Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting the sugar from apples. This turns them into acetic acid, which is the active ingredient in vinegar.

*Vinegar can help kill pathogens, including bacteria, which means it is useful for an upset stomach. Just mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with some water to make it more palatable to drink.

*Vinegar contains chemicals known as polyphenols, these are antioxidants that can limit cell damage which can lead to diseases such as cancer.

*Some scientific studies have shown that apple cider vinegar can help people lose weight by suppressing your appetite. Vinegar also increases your metabolism and reduces water retention although more research is needed.

*Apple cider vinegar only contains about three calories per tablespoon.
