Sail with Us! Aruba’s Annual International Regatta 2019
by Karen Rollins Aug 12, 2019
Aruba’s Annual International Regatta will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year when it gets under way from 16-19 August.
Aruba’s reliable tropical weather and trade winds make it an ideal sailing location and this event attracts people from around the world.
The regatta starts on Thursday with a special screening of ‘Chasing Coral’ at the University of Aruba from 7.30pm-8.30pm.
The official opening ceremony will be held on Friday 18 August before two days of racing over the weekend. Every evening there’ll be beach parties with plenty of music, drinks and dancing.
According to the official regatta website the sailing activities will include:
– Yacht races
– Sunfish races
– Beach Cat races
– Optimist races
– F11 races
– Miniature boat races
All these events will take place at Surfside beach.
The regatta is also known for promoting ‘Green’ practices. The event has Gold status with ‘Sailors for the Sea – Clean Regattas’ which encourages sailors to be mindful of the environment, and this year the organisation’s director, Renata Goodridge, will be at the regatta.
Participants and attendees are asked to keep the beach, air and sea clean while enjoying all the fun activities.
