This Easter Campamento is Back! It’s a Return to Our Much-loved Easter Tradition

The Easter holiday is significant in the Caribbean as a whole, and here in Aruba. It is typically a time for family gatherings and the sharing of traditions. While we enjoy kite flying, Easter for us is synonymous with camping—specifically, beach camping. During the week before and after Easter, families and friends trade their comfy homes for a little rustic living.

The Eagle, Baby, Palm and Arashi beaches are designated campsites that become populated with tent villages for the two weeks. Interestingly, as part of the tradition, many families return to the same spot each year. Unfortunately, events over the last few years saw a halt in this much-loved cultural tradition. However, this year will see the return of Campamento.

This Easter Campamento is back, and as is our custom, camping will begin the Sunday before Easter. As a result, camping begins on April 2 and ends on April 16, 2023. Campers are invited to apply early for permits as the deadline for submitting requests is 15 March 2023 at 4:30pm. Additionally, there are new conditions to which campers are expected to adhere.

We are happy to see the return of Campamento. Once again, families will enjoy “roughing it” with our makeshift kitchens, sleeping bags, hammocks, and portable toilets. It’s a return to families and friends competing in various beach sports; volleyball, tennis, and football, while others get boisterous over dominoes. There will also be the usual nightly entertainment with live bands performing.

Campamento is an experience unlike any other! Aruba get ready, as all roads lead to the beaches for our favourite Easter tradition, Campamento 2023.
