If you’re not comfortable in the kitchen then you probably need all the help you can get in the form of the latest gadgets.

But with so many new-fangled, ‘what-do-you-call-it’ items on the market, which one do you choose?

Yello has narrowed it down to three ‘must-haves’, which are designed to make your life a little easier and have you wondering how you ever lived without them!

A handheld or counter-top spiraliza

This gadget has generated sustained media buzz since its arrival around two years ago and is now one of the essential items for any kitchen.

Providing a whole new exciting and different way to eat vegetables, a spiraliza can also be relatively cheap, especially if you get a handheld one, and there are lots of different brands to choose from on the market.

If you pick one with a variety of different blades you can make spaghetti-like noodles, vegetable ribbons or fettuccine-like strips, all to your preferred width, which can then be used as an alternative to pasta or in salads.

Nutribullet /Magic bullet

Lauded as the best thing since sliced bread, the Nutribullet is a super blender which has rapidly become a staple for anyone trying to introduce more fruit and vegetables into their diet.

Generally compact and easy to use, the Nutribullet essentially enables you to combine any type of fruit, vegetable, seed or nut into a smoothie-type beverage. The appliance has various blades and different sized cups so you can also try your hand at soups and sauces.

The accompanying recipe book is a helpful guide so that you never run out of interesting combinations to try.

The only downside is having to clean the blades and the blending cups afterwards. And remember there are similar products available, so just choose one that matches your needs and budget.

Fruit infused water bottle / pitcher

If you find it a chore to drink the recommended eight glasses of water a day, then this product could be a lifesaver for you.

Relatively cheap and easy to use, this gadget is credited with encouraging people to consume less sugary drinks by naturally infusing water with fruits or herbs through a simple extraction process, which also ensures minimal pulp.

There’s no end to the fruits you can infuse – strawberries, blueberries, apples or oranges; you can even try slices of lime, ginger, lemon or cucumber and most combinations can be used multiple times before the flavour begins to dissipate as long as you keep the drink refrigerated.

Choose a sport-based or travel version and you can have natural, fruity water on-the-go, at work, or at the gym. If you want to make your own blend of fruit or herbal tea, some bottles can be filled with hot water too.
