‘Celebrating and Preserving Our Heritage’: Barbados Heritage Month 2025

Throughout June, Barbados will celebrate its Heritage Month under the recurring theme ‘Celebrating and Preserving Our Heritage’.
The official schedule for the month was released by the Barbados National Trust in partnership with the Ministry of Culture on Sunday 1 June during an event held at the historic Morgan Lewis Windmill.
Below are some of the planned Barbados Heritage Month activities:

On 14 June at 6pm, a special Father’s Day edition of ‘Jazz in the Yard: A Heritage Gala’ will take place in St Mary’s Churchyard. This event will include a torchlight tour of the historic graveyard.
The official book launch of ‘Historic Mosques of Bridgetown, Barbados’ by Sabir Nakhuda and Suleiman Bulbulia at the Daphne Joseph-Hackett Theatre in Queen’s Park will take place from 7.30pm on 16 June.
A bus tour of three Barbados National Trust sites on 21 June from 9.30am. Hosted by Ronald Carrington this tour is entitled ‘Windows” and will depart from the Tyrol Cot Heritage Village. Call 246 426 2421 for tickets and more information.

On 22 June an Antiques Fair in Golden Square Freedom Park will take place from noon until 5pm. The fair will include a mini auction at 4pm.
A Youth Roundtable entitled ‘Safeguarding our Past, Building our Future. The Story of Tyrol Cot’ will be held on 25 June at the Nidhe Israel Synagogue in Bridgetown from 6.30pm.
The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. will present a free lecture on 29 June entitled ‘A Genealogy Chat: Let’s Talk Family’ at the Courtney Blackman Grand Salle, Central Bank. The presentation starts at 6pm.
