Fitness fanatics will be in their element from 25-26 November as the high energy Barbados Adventure Race (BAR) weekend gets under way.
This year, the two-day adrenaline-fuelled event is taking place at the National Botanical Gardens in St Michael. There will be two races on Saturday and three on Sunday. (kidsrkids.com)
Saturday’s schedule includes the Amarone 3K Caribbean Championships where single competitors face 20 obstacles including the slippery wall, the cargo net climb, log carry, and monkey bars.
On Sunday, the Open Wave event is for anyone looking to test themselves to their limit, with around 25 obstacles to get over, around, and through! There are also two team events including the CGI Barbados Elite Team Challenge which pits teams of three (with at least one female contestant) against each other.
Speaking previously to Yello, BAR’s organiser, George Griffith, said the event is for anyone who has a keen interest in fitness. He added: “Our goal is to use this event to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity in managing chronic disease and as part of a healthy lifestyle. We also want to create opportunities for potential athletes to represent their country in the sport of obstacle course racing in Barbados and beyond.
“This race is for anyone between your weekend warrior, who just wants to go out and do something interesting and exciting a couple of times a year, to those athletes who are considered amongst the best in the world in obstacle course racing.”
