The routes for Crop Over’s biggest jumps, Foreday Morning and Grand Kadooment, have been adjusted by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF).

At a recent press conference, the NCF’s chief executive officer, Carol Roberts-Reifer said the organisation, along with various stakeholders, had decided to reduce the routes to three, rather than the six that were proposed in March.

Foreday Morning will now offer two options in St Philip and Christ Church. In St Philip, revellers can jump from King George V Memorial Park to Lucas Street and into Bushy Park, entering via the North gate.

The Christ Church option goes from Searles to the Lowlands Roundabout and back to Searles.

Grand Kadooment will have just one route which will take masqueraders from the ABC Highway to the Emancipation Statue (Bussa), back along the Highway to end at the National Stadium in Waterford, St Michael.

Ms Robers-Reifer also announced that all revellers must be fully vaccinated or present a negative rapid antigen test taken no more than 24 hours before the event.

The following protocols for events taking place during Crop Over were also outlined:

  • All public events should be staged in pre-approved open-air venues and specific well ventilated indoor spaces.
  • All catering and hospitality staff must be fully vaccinated and present a negative rapid antigen test valid for 48 hours.
  • All patrons, staff, and service providers (except for catering and hospitality staff – see above) must be fully vaccinatedor present a negative rapid antigen test prior to the event (valid for 48 hours).
  • The maximum capacity at approved venues will be based solely on the size of the venue and the application of the social distancing protocols.
  • Indoor events such as calypso tents and exhibition openings will be subject to mandatory wearing of masks as well as appropriately spaced seating.
  • The COVID-19 Monitoring Unit must give prior approval and maintain a presence at all mass events.
