Five Things To Do When it’s Raining in Barbados

Rain in Barbados is relatively rare even during the wet season from May to November.

Showers are usually short, sharp and over in a few minutes, and because it’s so hot, the ground dries up quickly, and it soon looks as if it never rained at all.

However, on days when the rain is falling steadily and the sky is grey, it can be frustrating and boring, especially if it’s the weekend or a bank holiday, and you’d planned to be outside.

So, here are five suggestions for entertainment on a rainy day.

Read a good book

Most of us have books on the shelf, or the bedside table, which we never get around to reading. A rainy day is the perfect time to curl up on the sofa and escape into an imaginary world.

Binge watch Netflix

Every week Netflix seems to come up with a new ‘must-watch’ TV series before you’ve even had a chance to see the last big thing! When it’s pouring outside, you’ll have the perfect excuse to spend hours binge-watching, and soon you’ll be right up-to-date with ‘Euphoria’, ‘The Crown’ or ‘Stranger Things’.

Go to the cinema

If you don’t have a Netflix subscription, or you just prefer to watch movies on the big screen, jump in the car and go to the cinema. Look on the Find Yello app to see the latest blockbuster film releases at Olympus Theatres every week.

Call a friend / relative

Pick up the phone and call a friend or relative who you haven’t spoken to in a while. Life is hectic, and it’s easy to neglect relationships, so a damp day is the perfect time for a nice, long chat and a proper catch up!

Indulge in self care

Switch off your TV and portable electronic devices and leave the real world behind for a few hours.

Run a bath, paint your nails, listen to some soothing music, or just have a nap. Whatever you need to recharge and revive.

Sometimes rainy days are not a bad thing!
